Betty Femiak, a Lifetime Hudson Valley Resident, Dies at 94

Betty Femiak, a lifelong resident of the area, entered into rest on Friday, March 24, 2017 at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. She was 94. The daughter of the late Peter and Minnie Drake, she was born October 27, 1922 in Newburgh, NY.

Betty and her late husband Stephen were members of Club 60 in Newburgh for 18 years while Stephen was alive, and Betty continued membership an additional 7 years.

She was a loving wife of 61 years to the late Stephen J. Femiak, whom she married on July 8, 1945. She is survived by her oldest sister: Virginia Reggero; her three sons: Stephen Femiak of the Town of Newburgh, James Femiak and his wife, Debbe of the Town of Newburgh, and John Femiak of New Windsor; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by three brothers: Walter Drake, Orville Drake and Peter Drake; and two sisters: Muriel Congliglere and Evelyn Forsythe.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Monday, March 27 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, with a service at 7:45 pm. Burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 28 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
