Trying to give Netflix more competition, Amazon has launched a stand-alone service, 'Prime Video' allowing users to sign up for monthly service at $8.99.

The price, $8.99 is one dollar more than Netflix's lowest service plan, which is $7.99, and one dollar less than Netflix's popular standard plan of $9.99 monthly. Like Netflix, Amazon has also been working on their original content, but has not yet reached the success of Netflix.

This is a major move for Amazon, now offering Amazon Prime as a monthly service, as opposed to their previous yearly membership. Now users can pay $10.99 monthly for Prime, with the ability to turn it off at anytime.

Now, we get to see what Netflix can come up with to compete with Amazon.
