3 Ulster County Residents Arrested for Welfare Fraud
3 Ulster County residents were arrested for welfare fraud under the county’s “Zero Tolerance Anti-Fraud, Waste and Abuse Program.”
Ulster County Executive Mike Hein announced the arrests of Reanna Morell and Tracy DuMont, both of Marlborough, and Amal Maseer, of New Paltz. All 3 were charged with 5th-degree welfare fraud and 2nd-degree offering a false instrument for filing, misdemeanors.
Separate investigations conducted by the Ulster County Social Services Special Investigation Unit along with Ulster County District Attorney’s Office found that Morell, DuMont, and Maseer all provided false income information during 2015 through 2016 to the Department of Social Services.
Amal Maseer received $4,292.00; Tracy DuMont $6,228.00; and Reanna Morell $2,952.00 in SNAP and Temporary Assistance benefits which they were not entitled to receive, allegedly.
All three defendants were processed and released to reappear at Ulster Town Court at a future date.
