2 Shot in Hudson Valley After Booty Call Goes Wrong
Two people were shot in the Hudson Valley after a man showed up to have planned sex with a woman.
On Wednesday around 1:10 a.m., City of Poughkeepsie 911 received a number of calls reporting multiple shots fired in the area of 77 Carroll Street with reports of a dark-colored SUV fleeing the area.
One of the responding officers spotted a dark-colored SUV on Academy Street operating without its headlights.
The officer turned around, caught up to the vehicle and stopped it, police say. The driver, 22-year-old Michael Fazio of Modena, was detained.
Other responding officers found two victims at a home on Carroll Street.
The victims told police one of the victims made a plan to meet a female for sex. However, the woman arrived at the home with two other people wearing masks, one with a handgun. The masked people then tried to rob the man and when he resisted, two shots were fired. A friend of the victim came over to help and at least one more shot was fired.
The victims were able to get the gun away from the alleged shooter and the group fled in a dark-colored SUV driven by Fazio, police say. A 9mm handgun was recovered at the victim's house, according to authorities.
Police allegedly found a live 9mm round, several unloaded magazines, an empty box of 9mm ammunition, a bag of marijuana and a quantity of methamphetamine in Fazio's car.
The names of the woman and other masked person weren't released by police because the investigation into the pair continues.
Fazio was charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance and a violation for marijuana possession. Other charges may be filed later, police say.
