A local restaurant's enormous wine list has earned recognition from Wine Spectator magazine.

There are many world class restaurants that are famous for their extensive wine lists. Many of them, however, are down in Manhattan or other big cities across the country. But a high-end restaurant closer to home is making waves in the wine world, bringing some world class to the Hudson Valley.

Blu Pointe on the Newburgh Waterfront received the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excelled in 2017, and now the magazine continues to tout the restaurant's wine list. With over 440 labels available, Blu Pointe' s wine director, John Chamorro, was recently featured in an article by the magazine. The restaurant's diverse wine list, representing regions around the world was praised by Wine Spectator.

According to the magazine, Blue Pointe's wine menu excels in its selection of wines from France, California and Italy. The restaurant also offers an impressive 42 wines by the glass, including Coravin selections that are poured tableside by servers.

Blu Pointe's  6,300-bottle inventory is displayed in the center of the restaurant behind a huge, glass-enclosed case. It also includes many local selections from Hudson Valley wineries such as Millbrook, Lieb Family and Brotherhood.
