The term Hudson Valley gets thrown around a lot these days. And everyone seems to have an opinion of what of what ground it covers, but no one can seem to agree, what's the deal? According to TravelHudsonValley.com, it's a 10 county region designated by I LOVE NEW YORK to promote tourism for the area. The counties include:

  • Albany
  • Columbia
  • Dutchess
  • Greene
  • Orange
  • Putnam
  • Rensselaer
  • Ulster
  • Westchester

The entire area is designated a National Heritage Area based on it's history, culture and beauty among other things. In 2013, National Geographic Traveler named the region one of the top 20 destinations in the world. It's also one of the oldest wine producing areas in America. Plus the burgeoning craft beer scene is worth mentioning too.

Travel Hudson Valley had some interesting information on their site; in 2012 visitors to the area as a whole spent $4.75 billion generating over 80,000 jobs and more than $300 million in tax revenue. Also mentioned, the Hudson Valley is one of the fastest growing parts of the United States.
