Another great Hudson Valley tradition has been put on hold. The West Point Band reminded people today on their Facebook page that due to the COVID 19 outbreak they will be unable to host their outdoor concert series which often includes fireworks with the backdrop of the Hudson River and live cannon fire.

The West Point Band has one of America's most spectacular places to hold their outdoor concerts. Every seat has an amazing view of the river and the knoll in front of the bandshell makes for great acoustics. If you haven't gone to a concert yet you must put it on the concert bucket list once we are all able to gather again for live music.

According to the Facebook post, they haven't given up on the whole summer yet, which means we can hold out hope for Labor Day when the band performs the 1812 Overture with the canons and fireworks. It is beyond amazing to sit on the side of that hill, listen to the music and feel the canon fire and firework all around you. Your bring a picnic and arrive before the sun goes down. The concert plays until dark and then the sky is lit with one of the Hudson Valley's best fireworks displays.

West Point isn't the only live outdoor music venue not holding their performances this year. Water Street Market is not holding their Tuesday Music Nights which has been a New Paltz tradition for over a decade. Earlier this week we also found out that Music in the Park was canceled in Dutchess County.
