Walter E. Gorgas, 80, of Wappingers Falls, New York, died on December 12, 2016 doing what he enjoyed, skiing the mountains of Vermont. Born and raised in New Brighton, Pennsylvania, Walt lived most of his life in Wappingers Falls. Walt's first career was a quality engineer for 26 years with IBM. His most passionate career was a sports enthusiast who was glad to share his insights with any and every one he met. Up until the day of his passing he was a ski instructor at Killington Ski Resort in Vermont. In addition to skiing, and during the final years of his life, Walt loved playing tennis and golf, kayaking, swing dancing, ice skating, roller blading and mountain biking. He was also president of the Hudson Valley Ski Club. Walt is survived by his son Mark(Rebecca) Gorgas of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his daughter Tamara(Robert) Windheim of Wappingers, Son Scott (Theresa) Gorgas of Deerfield, N.Y., his brothers Tom(Doris) Gorgas of Bay Village, Ohio, Robert(Karen) Gorgas of Bolivar, Ohio, his 12 grandchildren, and 2 greatgrandchildren whom he adored, and finally by his many sporting, dancing, life loving friends in Killington and the Hudson Valley.
