Two Popular Animals Seen At The Fair Retire
As we roll through August, we are also nearing the end of the 2025 County Fair season. The Dutchess County Fair is kicking off on Tuesday, August 19th, and this year it will be missing two of its favorite animal celebrities.
Two Favorite Animals Celebrates Will Not Be At The Dutchess County Fair
As you know, if you have been to the Dutchess County Fair, your trip is not complete without a stop at Livestock Hill. All of the animals and the 4H kids enjoy fairgoers stopping by to see the shows. Sometimes you even get a chance to see an animal born. The Cows, sheep, goats, bunnies, and more will all be waiting for your visit.

Livingstock Hill isn't the only place to see animals. There is a place at the fair where you can learn about more exotic animals. The Two By Two Animals Haven trailer is a favorite attraction at the fair. They always have something happening that will fascinate fairgoers of all ages.

This year, though, you won't get to visit with two of the residents of Two by Two who have been popular with fair goers for years. Sarah and Spanky, Two by Two Animal Haven's beloved monkeys, have officially retired from going to the fair.

Instead, Sarah, who is 33 years old, and Spanky, who is 32, will be enjoying a quieter life as they retire at the sanctuary. When this news was shared on social media by Two by Two, many people were understanding and very appreciative of how much Two by Two looks out for the animals in their care.
Even Vicki from the Dutchess County Fair shared a comment on the Facebook post:
We know how much you love your animals. You have always made sure your animals health and well being is a top priority. We will surely miss Spanky & Sarah but totally understand. (Vicki via Facebook)
For those of you who plan to see Two By Two at the fair, you won't be disappointed, as you know, they always have so many animals in their care that we can learn about, and that will be true this year, too.
What Is Two By Two Animal Haven
Established in 1993 as Two by Two Zoo, they changed their name in 2020 to Two by Two Animal Haven. Their mission is the same: to educate people about animals, their welfare, and conservation. They have a travel program that also offers a school program to learn more. Visit twobytwoanimalhaven.com or be sure to stop and see them in Rhinebeck during the fair.
