Tractor-Trailer Crash Closes New York State Thruway in HV
State Police are still investigating the cause of a gruesome crash that closed the New York State Thruway in the Hudson Valley for hours.

The closure happened in Ulster County after a tractor-trailer caused a chain-reaction crash near Saugerties.
On Monday around 1:45 p.m., New York State Police responded to a report of a four-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer and three passenger vehicles southbound on I-87 in the town of Saugerties, Ulster County.

A preliminary investigation determined the tractor-trailer driver rear-ended a passenger vehicle which then caused a chain reaction involving two other cars.

One passenger was airlifted to Albany Medical Canter for evaluation, three other people were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

Police did not release their ages or injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

All lanes of the thruway between exits 19 (Kingston) and 20 (Saugerties) were closed to allow the helicopter to land. All lanes are now reopened.
