Study: New York One of the Worst States For Early Education

While good elementary schools, high schools, and colleges are important factors for parents to consider when choosing where to settle down, the availability of quality pre-K education is just as crucial.

With research showing that pre-K education results in better test scores, less crime, and economic benefits, Wallethub compared the 50 states to determine the best and worst states for early education.

In order to determine the best early education systems in America, the 50 states and the District of Columbia were compared across 12 key metrics.

The data set ranges from share of school districts that offer a state pre-K program to the number of pre-K quality benchmarks met and total reported spending per child enrolled in pre-K.

New York was ranked as the 9th worst state for early education. Here's the breakdown.

• 24^th – Total Reported Spending per Child Enrolled in Preschool
• 26^th – Share of School Districts that Offer State Pre-K Program
