Shirley A. Corizzo, a New Paltz Resident, Dies at 82
Shirley A. Corizzo of New Paltz, NY formerly of Newburgh & Lake Luzerne, NY entered into rest on Monday, February 26, 2018 at New Paltz Centers Nursing Home. Shirley was 82 years old.
She was born in Newburgh, NY on February 7, 1936 the daughter of the late Patrick and Eva (Pacenza) Spina, Sr. Shirley married the love of her life, Ralph N. Corizzo on November 14, 1954 in St. Patrick’s Church, Newburgh, NY. Ralph predeceased her on August 20, 2016.
Shirley is survived by her children, Eva Cosman and husband Edward, Michael Corizzo and wife Colleen, all of Newburgh, Julie Knapp and husband Daniel of Montgomery. She was nannie to all of her grandchildren, Melissa and Chris Hill, Stephanie and Eric Johnson, Michele and Lee Slaughter, Joseph, Lindsay and William Knapp and Michael and Jessica Corizzo; and great grandchildren, Brianna, Damon John, Megan, Amberley, Anthony, Brayden, Blake and Myles; brothers and sister in laws Patrick Spina Jr and wife Patricia, Joseph Spina and wife Linda and sister and brother in law Marie Sadler and husband Ron and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Shirley is predeceased by her sisters Anita Harder and Lucille Santillo.
Shirley’s family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff at New Paltz Center for their caring and kindness to her and her family during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm, Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A Mass if Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, March 2, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, with Father Bill Damroth officiating. Burial will be next to her husband at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
