Search Continues For Former Newburgh Teacher
The search continues for a missing Hudson Valley woman, a former teacher in the area, who's been missing for over a week.
Jessica Lopez, 36, of Newburgh was last seen during the evening hours of Nov. 1 near her vehicle outside of her home on Dubois Street in the City of Newburgh. Her car was later found in the Town of Newburgh on Sunday evening, according to City of Newburgh police.
Her car was found in the parking lot of Showtime Cinemas in the Town of Newburgh, according to the Missing Persons Cases Network. On Nov. 1, Lopez was at the Chili's in Newburgh. Her friend drove her to her home in the City of Newburgh where she got into her car. She hasn't been seen or heard from since.
Lopez, who goes by the name "Yessica," is former teacher in Newburgh, according to her social media accounts. Her brother says she recently quit her job working as a health clinic in Newburgh to care for their sick father. Their brother, Franklin Lopez, died in December 2018.
Lopez is described as being 5'3" and 135 pounds with light brown eyes and brown hair with highlights. Anyone with information on Lopez is asked to call the City of Newburgh Police Department at 845-561-3131.
Police combed along the Hudson River Sunday in search of Lopez, according to NewsSource. Authorities also spent parts of the weekend searching wooded areas in Newburgh, while a State Police helicopter flew overhead looking for any signs of the 36-year-old.
