WAPPINGERS FALLS – Robert J. Warncke, 78, an area resident for the last 4 years, died on March 23, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He previously lived in Northport, Long Island.

Born in Queens on January 19, 1940, Robert was the son of the late Claus D. and Madeline (Fremgen) Warncke, Jr. He proudly served in the US Marines Reserves. Robert retired in 1993 as Director of Internal Audits from Long Island Railroad after 25 years of service.

On April 20, 1963 in Colonie, he married Patricia (Thomas) Warncke who survives at home. Other survivors include his children, James Warncke and his wife Sharon of Whitesboro, Gary Warncke of Charlotte, NC, and Karen Warncke of North Babylon; his grandchildren, Craig Warncke, Kerstin Barns and her husband Robert, Carl Warncke, and Kyra Beth Warncke; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and members of his wife’s family. Robert was looking forward to meeting his first great-grandchild in September 2018.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Claus D. Warncke, III and sister in-law Carolyn (Cook) Warncke.

Robert was currently the President of the Castle Point View Home Owners Association. An avid fan of the NY Yankees and Giants, he also enjoyed tennis, golf and model railroads.
