Every time you buy a new laptop, cell phone, tablet, microwave, television, etc, what do you do with old ones? You can't just put these in the trash but you can bring them to the Dutchess County Resource Recovery Agency's  Household Hazardous Disposal and Electronics Recycling Day on Saturday, April 7 from 8 am until 12:30 in the Town of Poughkeepsie at 96 Sand Dock Road.

In addition to electronics, you can also safely dispose of aerosol containers, chemicals, antifreeze, automotive and household batteries, cleaners, motor oil and other automotive products, paint, pesticides, and more. Get the complete list of accepted items here.

Pre-registration is required for this event, with a $10 registration fee, and is open to Dutchess County residents only. Imagine how much better you'll feel knowing these hazardous materials are no longer in your home. This is an extremely popular event and it will be on a first-come-first-served basis. As a result, residents are being told to expect wait times.

If you can’t make this one, they will hold two more this year on June 16 and October 27. For more information and to register online, click here.
