President Trump Impeached: How New York’s Representatives Voted
President Donald J. Trump became the third president in the nation's history to be impeached following a vote by the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday night. The House, where Democrats hold a majority, voted largely along party lines on two articles of impeachment following several hours of debate.
Article one alleges Trump abused the power of his office by attempting to influence Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate a company that counted Hunter Biden, son of 2020 Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joseph Biden, on its board. The House voted 230-197 in favor of the first article of impeachment.
The second article alleges Trump obstructed Congress in failing to produce documents and instructing witnesses not to testify during the House's impeachment investigation. Article two passed with a vote of 229-198. The articles of impeachment required 216 affirmative votes to pass the House.
Trump's home state of New York has 27 representatives in the House. Twenty-one seats are held by Democrats, five are held by Republicans and one seat is currently vacant. Here is how New York's House members cast their historic vote on the articles of impeachment:

Following the impeachment vote, the U.S. Senate will hold a trial on the charges brought by the House and vote on whether to remove Trump from office. The Senate, which is currently controlled by Republicans, is not expected to convict the president on the articles of impeachment.
