The major airports in the New York City area were ranked based on customer satisfaction.

J.D. Power published their 2018 North America Airport Satisfaction Study on Wednesday, September 19. They ranked mega, large, and medium airports across the United States based on customer satisfaction. The study was based on five factors: check-in; food, beverage and retail; accessibility; terminal facilities; and baggage claim. Overall, passenger satisfaction rose from 749 in 2017 to 761 in 2018, based on a 1,000 point scale.

However, airports close to the Hudson Valley, in the New York City area were not ranked so well. When you think NYC area airports the three majors come to mind: JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark.

Newark and JFK were amongst the mega-airport category. JFK had an average satisfaction rating of 752. While Newark ranked the lowest in customer satisfaction of all the mega-airports with a rating of 701.

LaGuardia was considered a large airport for the study. LaGuardia was ranked the worst in customer satisfaction for the large airports. They had a below average rating of 678.

The only New York State airport that ranked well was Buffalo Niagara International Airport. It was ranked as the best medium airport for customer satisfaction. It had a rating of 814.
