Many of us haven't seen the inside of our gym at all in 2020. When COVID 19 hit in March closing gyms and indoor workout facilities throughout the Hudson Valley I don't think any of us expected that in July we would still be waiting to go back. Now it turns out we will be waiting even longer to get back to our indoor workout class, but one community in the Hudson Valley is ready to help by putting the classes outside.

The Village and Town of New Paltz announced that they are working on a plan that would allow group fitness instruction at two outdoor locations in New Paltz. In a Facebook message posted on Thursday (July 2) the Village and Town described what they are working on. It would allow groups to use Hasbrouck Park and the Field of Dreams for outdoor classes. They plan to include yoga, cross fit, dance and martial arts. This idea arose out of a need from local business in New Paltz that don't have outdoor space. These business won't be able to use their indoor space in phase 4 or anytime soon.

There will be rules of course that include the spaces being non-exclusive, hours being set by the town and village, plus the classes should be open to the public. They are allowing fees to be collected. Obviously, all social gathering requirements will need to be met and New York Safety protocols will be enforced.

For information on holding your classes at the parks contact clerk@villageofnewpaltz.org for Hasbrouck Park and recreation@townofnewpaltz.org for the Field of Dreams.
