Mary T. Beresford, a Poughquag Resident, Dies at 67

Mary T. Beresford, of Poughquag, died on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 67.

Daughter of the late William and Eileen (Hedman) Bluemke, she was born in Queens on January 12, 1950. She resided in Suffolk County, Long Island for many years until she moved with her family to Poughquag in 1987.

Mary was a member of St. Kateri Church in Lagrangeville and enjoyed spending time with her family, but cherished her grandchildren more than anything else.
On November 18, 1972, she married Thomas Beresford at St. Joseph’s Church in Astoria, Queens. Thomas survives at home in Poughquag.

Mary is also survived by two sons: Shawn Beresford of Pleasant Valley and Timothy Beresford & his wife Sara of Denver, CO; her daughter-in-law, Francyne Craig & her husband Marty of Beekman; her grandchildren, Tyler, Jillian, Ella, Grace, and Hudson; her sister, Eileen Sandstrom of Chester Heights, PA, mother of nephews Brett and Mark; her sister-in-law, Mary Schmidt of Mashpee, MA; and many other relatives & friends.

Mary was predeceased by her parents as well as two brothers-in-law, Peter Sandstrom and John Schmidt.

Calling hours will be held from 2 – 5 p.m. on Monday, April 24th at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Following the calling hours, a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 5:30 p.m. at St. Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, Lagrangeville. A private burial will take place at St. Denis Cemetery in Hopewell Junction.
