Margaret J. “Marge” Fuhrmann, Longtime Highland Resident, Dies at 63

Margaret J. “Marge” Fuhrmann 63, a longtime resident of Highland and a previous resident of Hyde Park, NY passed away after a 3 year battle of cancer surrounded by her loving family. Throughout her illness, she always maintained her faith, and her strength to fight this battle right to the end.
Marge worked for the Highland Central School District for many years up until her retirement.
She was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on March 21, 1953. She was the daughter of William Edwin Burt and Mildred J. Blauvelt Burt.
On September 8, 1974 at the Hyde Park Methodist Church she married George E. Fuhrmann, Jr.
Mr. Fuhrmann survives at home in Highland. Additional survivors include her mother, Mildred Burt of Hyde Park, NY, her daughters, Denise and her husband Doug Decker of Highland, NY, Lisa and her husband Joe Di Mattina of Highland, NY, her four granddaughters, Desiree, Deanna, Destiney, and Ava, her brother, Tom Burt of Elizaville, NY her sister, Carol Petrovitz of Highland, NY and several aunts, uncles, two nieces and one nephew.
She was predeceased by her father, William Edwin Burt.
Marge was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will take place on Wednesday October 12th from 4-8pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 38 Main St. Highland, NY 12528. A closing service will take place at 7:45pm during the calling hours.
Burial will be private.
