Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro has been making headlines as the race for Governor of New York continues.

Last week Molinaro and current governor Andrew Cuomo sat down for their long awaited and heated debate. This week, however, Molinaro is making headlines for a different reason.

The New York Post is reporting that on Monday, October 29, Molinaro sprang into action when he saw a man on struggling on the sidewalk in Poughkeepsie near his campaign office.

Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson told the New York Post "It seemed to be a medical issue" and that the man was "semi-conscious and gagging on his own vomit." Molinaro then called 911, assisted the man until paramedics arrived on the scene. Then, Molinaro started directing traffic around the scene.

Molinro has had some experience in emergency response. He volunteered with the Tivoli fire department for 15 years.

Paramedics treated the man "for symptoms of a stroke" and he was later taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.
