Man Who Fled After High Speed August Chase Finally Arrested
A man who fled after leading local police on a high-speed chase in August was found and arrested.
On Wednesday, 30-year-old Scott Walker was arrested by Port Jervis police and charged with fourth and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, felonies, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, misdemeanors, and 13 traffic violations
On August 6, 2016, an officer spotted a car driving recklessly in Port Jervis on Pike Street. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, Walker, failed to comply and led police on a short pursuit through Port Jervis at a high rate of speed, police say.
During the chase, Walker is accused of crashing into a parked car on Owen Street. After the crash, Walker fled on foot.
A passenger, 20-year-old Justin Jiminez-Castillo, of Montague, N.J, was arrested after a brief foot chase.
Walker was able to elude police. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of about four grams of powder cocaine, officials say.
In August, Jiminez-Castillo was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and a misdemeanor for resisting arrest.
Walker was arraigned in Port Jervis City Court, and remanded to the custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on $100,000 cash bail $250,000 bond.
