A man is facing a felony drug charge following a traffic stop in Ulster County.

On Tuesday around 10:00 p.m., Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle on Route 28 in the Town of Hurley for a traffic violation. A further investigation revealed that the driver, 42-year-old Christopher A. Carter, of Chichester, was in possession of over 120 methadone tablets and other diverted pharmaceuticals.

Carter was charged with 4th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony, and 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor.

Mr. Carter was arraigned in the Town of Hurley Justice Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
