If you knew her, then you loved her dearly.

Lucy Case, 86, of Lakeway, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2016. Born in the Bronx on February 16, 1930, Lucy was the daughter of Dominick and Thomasina Taddonio. Her zest for life was like no other: she worked hard raising five children, was intimately involved in the raising of her grandchildren and still found time to take care of her loving husband, Rodney Case. Through it all, Lucy was quick to flash her genuine, beautiful smile, deploy her sassy New York attitude, wrap her arms around her children or snatch up a giggling grandchild running through the kitchen.

She had a gift for sewing and crocheting that she developed through her early years working in clothing stores. She spent 10 years as the secretary to the vice president at Mill Printing and then another 20 years for the Franciscan Friars of Graymoor in Garrison, New York. A devout Catholic, her work at Graymoor was her passion. Growing up in an Italian family, Lucy was a marvelous cook; she prepared spaghetti and meatballs, stuffed shells and a seasoned, breaded pancake (family created recipe) called, ‘Pouppette.’

Lucy also loved the lights, late night shows and dollar slots of Las Vegas. (Her last trip, taken on her 80th birthday with many family members, found her dancing on stage with the Chippendales!) Her flair for dancing and socializing with her friends will be missed more than can be described. Her way of living was a marvel. To be clear, Lucy always checked the dessert menu before ordering her meal.

Lucy is survived by her husband Rodney Case; and her four children: Gail & her partner Cedric, Lin and her husband Michael, Gary and Dan. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and their spouses: Deanna and her husband Mike, Jennifer and her husband Perry, Chelsea, Brittney, Nicole, Shawn, Angela; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Dominick & Thomasina Taddonio; brothers Tommy & Andy; and son Robert.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10am-12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A graveside service will follow at St. Denis Cemetery, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association - www.act.alz.org.
