Kingston Offering Free Shuttle Rides to the July 4th Spectacular

Earlier this month we told you that one of Ulster County's biggest firework spectaculars was back on after a two-year hiatus, and if you are planning to go you can avoid all parking nightmares by taking a FREE ride to the show!

Over the years I've attended numerous Kingston firework celebrations and one thing I can remember is that finding a place to legally park is almost impossible every year. This year it looks like it might be better than ever before. According to the City of Kingston's Facebook page, the 4th of July celebration in Kingston is expected to be attended by thousands, and to make the event easier and more fun, they've teamed up with an area transit service to offer free shuttles to the event.

Kingston Mayor Steve Noble made the announcement that the city, along with UCAT is set to offer a free shuttle service that will take guests from parking to the waterfront area of Kingston on Monday, July 4th for the fireworks display.

Shuttle Pick-Up Locations

The free shuttle service will have a continuous shuttle running from the parking lot at Kingston Point Beach, along with regular pick-ups at the following locations:

- Kingston Plaza (adjacent to the ballfield off of Westbrook Lane)
- Cornell Street parking lot (Thomas Street lot near Little Italy)
- Broadway at the Governor Clinton
- Broadway at the Andy Murphy Center
- Broadway at Yosman Towers

Busses will start shuttling guests at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 4th, and dropping them off at Garraghan Drive. Once the fireworks are completed UCAT will start returning guests to the lots they were picked up from. The last bus will leave the Rondout area at 11:30 p.m.

The fireworks will be set off from a barge in the Rondout Creek and should be visible east of the Route 9W Bridge just after dark. To find a location doing fireworks near you, check out our interactive fireworks map here.
