A Kingston was arrested following an investigation into reported stolen handguns.

New York State Police in Kingston arrested 31-year-old Charles V. Johnson, of Kingston for 1st-degree burglary, and two counts of 3rd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.

Police say Johnson was arrested after police responded to a private residence on State Route 28A in West Hurley for a report of a burglary in progress at that location. The homeowner advised responding officers that two handguns had been stolen from within the residence and after a search of the area, officers located Johnson who allegedly was still in possession of the handguns

Johnson was arraigned before the Town of Hurley Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail $1000,000 insurance bond.
