Keith Monahan, 60, of Highland, NY, passed away at his home on November 21 with his wife Patti, as always, at his side. Keith was born on April 2, 1957, in Sayville, NY, the son of late Daniel Monahan and Marilyn Monahan. He and Patti were married on August 12, 1977, in Highland, NY. After 9 years of marriage, the two became a fierce team against his brain tumor battle for 31 years. His love of life and family, courage, determination, and sense of humor got him through years of battling this demon. He never complained, not even as the end drew near.
He leaves behind his pride and joy, his daughters, “his girls,” Colleen Canino (husband Douglas) and Tara Hollifield (husband Brian), both of Highland. He leaves his precious grandchildren, the “apples of his eyes,” Sophia, Benjamin, Daniel, and Sadie. He is also survived by his mother Marilyn Monahan of Highland, brothers Daniel (wife Beth) of Ohio, Dennis (wife Diane) of Marlboro, and Brian (wife Nancy) of Warwick, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Daniel and brother Kevin.
Calling hours will take place Sunday, November 26th, 4-8 PM at The Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main St., Highland, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 27th, 10 AM at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Main St., Highland, followed by burial in Highland Cemetery.
