In Touch: The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie
Each week on ‘In Touch’, our locally produced public affairs program, I have the pleasure of talking with individuals and organizations from all over the Hudson Valley. We focus on non-profit organizations and volunteers who are working hard to help make all of our communities better places to live, work, and raise our families.
This week, Walter Joseph, Executive Director at The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie and Erin Cafarelli, Director of Development and Public Relations at The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie stopped by our studios to get us caught up with all that's been going on at The Children's Home and to talk about the many programs they have such as jobs and the Safe Harbor program-for trafficking victims. As always, they say it so much better than I can.
In addition, we talked about being designated a Childrens' Health Home and how that can help children covered by Medicaid, including grandparents who may be raising their grandchildren. They can help families who may find themselves dealing with Social Services. They know the steps to take to get you the help you need.
Other topics included their new 9,000 square foot wing with the larger dining room and what that means for the children and staff, the New York day of Giving, how to help the kids during the holidays with one of their wish lists.
