Beloved Hudson Valley Restaurant Suddenly Closes Their Doors
With little notice given to staff just before the holiday season, a local restaurant has suddenly shut its doors after several decades.
According to several posts on Facebook from former employees, Uno Chicago Grill in Poughkeepsie is no longer in business. Notice was apparently given to workers just hours before they were due to start their shifts.
The enormous restaurant was located in the Arlington section of Poughkeepsie at the top of Main Street where it intersects with Routes 44 and 55.
Known as Pizzeria Uno back in the 90s, the restaurant was once an extremely popular destination for happy hour and family dining. The restaurant and bar has seen a decline in customers over the years, due mostly to competition from newer restaurants and an increase in complaints about food quality. Yelp shows the restaurant scoring an average of only 2.5 stars.
A branding change to Uno Chicago Grill helped win back some customers, but the comeback was only short lived. Now Uno's no longer lists the Poughkeepsie location on their website and the building has gone dark.
