James R. Dixon of Wallkill, a retired foreman with Reiger Homes, Inc. in Newburgh entered into rest on Monday, April 3, 2017. He was 85. Son of the late John and Julia (Lake) Dixon he was born in Newburgh on December 25, 1931. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Iris (Colbert) Dixon. They were married March 10, 1963 in Newburgh.

Rick as he was known to family and friends proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. A lifelong area resident, Rick was a loving kind husband, father, Papa and brother who loved to work construction and landscaping. He loved life, riding the trains with his father in law and taking his children and grandchildren to watch them. He was always busy with work and helping others.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Iris at home include one son, Guy (Barbara) Banker of Clintondale; four daughters: Marion (Lee) Russell of Palm Bay, Fl, Felicia (Jim) White of St. Augustine, FL, Julia (Max) Villalonga of Wallkill and Holly (Kevin Schultz) Dixon of Wallkill; two brothers: Robert Dixon of PA and Daniel Dixon of MI; six sisters: Jean Thompson, Genevie Davis, Patricia Sarvis, Della Marshall, Isabell Bird and Rebecca Scriber all of NY. Twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews also survive. Predeceasing him was three brothers.

Private cremation has taken place at Cedar Hill Crematory.

A Memorial service to remember Rick's life will take place 2pm, Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Mid-Hudson Christian Church, 2393 Route 300, Wallkill, NY. Pastor Steve Aldrich will officiate.
