A young lady in Ellenville, New York got an amazing surprise from her local police department.

This time of year it's quite common to see kids out on the side of the road selling items in neighborhoods across the Hudson Valley. On hot days some kids will choose to set up lemonade stands to try and make a few extra bucks off of thirsty drivers and most times they clean up and make a killing....LOL! Sometimes kids will get even more "business-like" and choose to sell different items roadside just like what an 11-year-old young lady in Ellenville decided to do earlier this month.

No lemonade for 11-year-old Izzy, from Ellenville, NY! Instead, Izzy chose to sell her handmade jewelry on the side of a road in Ellenville earlier this month. While Izzy was selling her heart out she was surprised by the Ellenville Police Department after two officers stopped by her stand to investigate according to News 12.

Ellenville officers Dan Persell and Sal Giordano were on their daily patrol back on Monday, July 15th when they saw Izzy on the side of Berme Road selling jewelry at her makeshift store "Izzy's Shop", which was advertised on a piece of cardboard stapled to a nearby tree. When they stopped to ask her what she was doing she told them she was selling her jewelry in hopes of making enough money to buy a new bicycle. After hearing her story the officers along with dispatcher Arnold Ortiz and Police Chief Phillip Mattracion all chipped in to buy her the $140 bicycle she was saving for.

Chief Mattracion told News 12,

"It’s about showing the youth and being engaged with our youth and showing them that if you work hard and do it honestly and try to put your best foot forward good things happen."

Not only did they gift Izzy with a new bike they also provided her with a new helmet and bike lock and told her to save all the money she was making on her jewelry to buy something else. Well done Ellenville PD!!!

I am having property envy with this amazing Ulster County property listing and it doesn't even have a house on it. Imagine owning your own mineral spring. Not just any spring but the old Sun Ray Spring in Ellenville, New York. Considered to be the spring with the purest water anywhere in the world, this 30 acres on Berme Road is perfect for a bottled water business or even a craft brewery. It is close to everything people love to do on the Shawangunk Ridge and it is in an area that is growing with tourism.
