5 students from the Hudson Valley have been announced as winners for merit scholarships.

Patch reports that the National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced the final list of winners for the 2018 academic year. The scholarships are worth between $500 and $2,000 dollars annually, for up to 4 years of undergraduate college education. There were a total of over 7,500 winners across the country. The scholarships will total up to over $31 million.

Aidan B. O'Gara, from Bedford Hills, won a merit scholarship to Arizona State University, according to the article. Cashen Diniz, from Hastings-On-Hudson, won a merit scholarship to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Noah T. Hellum of Pelham won a merit scholarship to the University of Southern California. Emily A. Xu, from Pelham, won a merit scholarship to Vanderbilt University. Finally, Allegra Beth, from Pleasantville, won a merit scholarship to Brandeis University.
