Saturday Morning Empire Casino in Yonkers closed at 6am due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Westchester has been hit hardest in New York, having 158 cases of the virus as of this writing.  More is to be expected.  In a statement sent to their customers email and posted on their website, the facility along with Yonkers Raceway will close for 2 weeks and hope to anticipate an opening soon thereafter.  This past Tuesday, the casino announced that a New Jersey man, John Brennan, who worked at Yonkers Raceway on the property, passed away from the coronavirus.

The reason for the closure from the MGM owned facility is that "The health and safety of our customers and employees comes first."  Other casinos in New York State are remaining open for now.
