If you were wondering what the heck was going on in downtown Wappingers Falls, look no further. We finally got an update.

If you're like me and have to travel through Wappingers Falls every day, there are certain hours that are guaranteed to give you a massive headache during this summer construction.

What are they even doing? Will it be worth the short inconvenience?

According to Courtney Kolb from Wappingers Rises and @Wappaingersrises on Instagram the project is part of a massive and much-needed facelift for Wappingers Falls. She states that the construction will improve the safety for pedestrians walking in the downtown area. Wappingers is doing a lot to be one of the hottest destinations in the Hudson Valley as the Village sits along the Hudson less than 2 miles from metro-north New Hamburg train station and next to extremely popular points of interest including Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, KTC Buddhist monastery, Obercreek Farm, and Mount Alvernia.

It's also very important to point out that the local shops and eateries are open during the construction process.

The road work is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2019 but we all know how that goes.

Some other future projects include an improved village website, better trash receptacles throughout the business district, improved signage so people know where to eat, park and explore the village.

Courtney encourages members of the community who want to get involved to attend meetings held on the last Monday of every month at 7pm at American legion on 7 Spring Street Wappingers.
