George Washington Kniffin, a New Windsor Resident, Dies at 55
George Washington Kniffin, age 55, of New Windsor, entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, August 30, 2017. Born in Newburgh on January 29, 1962 he was the son of the late Barton L. Kniffin Sr. and Carol Terracina Collins, and his late step-father, John Norvell Collins.
George, as he was known to family and friends was a larger than life personality and very family oriented. A 1980 graduate of NFA he was a highly talented carpenter. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Survivors include his beloved daughter, Savannah Kniffin of Newburgh, brothers; Barton L. Kniffin Jr. of Newburgh, John T. Collins and wife, Mel Marta Collins of Harrison, NY and their son: Rafael F. Marta, and sisters; the late Cheri Kniffin-Owens and husband, Jason Owens of Austin, TX and their daughter: Nikole Kniffin, Tammy Sanchez and husband, Fernando of Apex, NC and their children: Sierra and Sebastian and Kim O’Sullivan and husband, Colum of Marlboro and their children: Caitlyn, Crysten and Casey. George also had a step-brother, Leo Wager of Marlboro.
Visitation for family and friends will take place Wednesday, September 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Rd. (Route 32) Town of Newburgh.
Funeral service will commence following visitation at the funeral home. Father John Vondras will officiate.
A private cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Burial of cremains will take place at a time convenient to the family in Mt. St. Francis Cemetery in New Windsor.
