Elaine Carol Skillman, a Pleasant Valley Resident, Dies at 82

Elaine Carol Morin Lauffer Skillman of Pleasant Valley formerly of Jamestown, New York and Fountain, Colorado and Rindge, New Hampshire passed away peacefully on January 22, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 82.

Elaine was born on January 15, 1934 in Buffalo, New York to the late Clifford K. (Sr) and Allene Fink Morin.

She was a Graduate of Jamestown High School class of 1952 and atttended Jamestown Business College and Massey Business College.

Elaine was a member of Epworth Methodist Church in Jamestown and taught Sunday School there.

On March 20, 1976 she married Edwin L. Skillman in Jamestown and lived in Jamestown, Colorado & New Hampshire.
Elaine worked at MRC for 23 years in Jamestown and retired in 1977.
After the death of Ed in 2000 she moved to Colorado and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fountain Colorado and their women’s group.

When she relocated back to Pleasant Valley, New York she was a member of the “New Beginnings” Christian Missionary Alliance Church where she was active in the bible study group.

Elaine is survived by her Son David Lauffer and his wife Daryl of Minden, Nevada and Grandchildren Tammy Bragg, Troy Lauffer, Jesse Cook, & Holly Sciorra.  There are also six great grandchildren.
Other Survivors include Step Children Thomas, Phillip, Peter, and David Skillman, Peggy Johnson, and Shamla Hallberg, and their children.

She is also survived by 4 Nieces, Kathy & Bill Hogsett, Diane Morey, Carol Morin, Patricia & Mark Winik, 2 Great-Nieces Natalie & Hannah Winik & 3 Great-Nephews David Morey, Jason & Eric Winik.

Elaine was predeceased by her husband Edwin in 2000 and her brother Clifford K. Morin (Jr) in 2012.

Elaine’s Visitation will be held on Sunday January 31,2016 from 1-4pm at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main St, Fishkill. A Funeral Service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bemus Point Cemetery, Bemus Point, New York. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the New Beginnings Christian Missionary Alliance Church  35 DeGarmo Road, Poughkeepsie, New York 12603 in her name.
