Eileen Shearin, 74 of Newburgh, entered into rest Thursday, October 19, 2017. The daughter of the late Wallace and Margaret (Ballgowan) Steel, she was born December 25, 1942 in Connecticut. She was married to the late Roger Shearin.

Eileen enjoyed sharing memories of her life in NYC and especially loved visiting Maine with hopes of one day moving there. Eileen loved her family and friends unconditionally and will be forever missed by her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Laura (Greg) Palkovic of Old Orchard Beach, ME and Linda (Bob) Tompkins of Cornwall, NY; her brother Michael (Pat) Steel; grandchildren: Amanda, Jennifer and Kelly Palkovic, Joseph Perez, and Gabrielle and Bobby Tompkins; nieces and nephews Holly and Kathleen Shearin, Joseph Carugan, Elizabeth Cooley, Kevin and Michael Steel, and Julie Traver. In addition to her parents and her husband Roger, she was predeceased by her brother, Edward Steel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 24 at Our Lady of the Lake, Newburgh, where Eileen was a parishioner. Cremation will follow the mass. In keeping with Eileen’s wishes her cremains will be buried with her husband Roger in Orange County Veteran’s Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
