HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Dolores Albanese, 85, an area resident since 2000 and formerly of Yonkers and the Bronx, died peacefully on July 4, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born in the Bronx on August 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Rose (Doyle) Barrett. She had owned and operated W.E. Barrett, Inc. in Hartsdale.

Dolores was a devoted parishioner of St. Columba Church. She was a former Girl Scout leader and a Past President of the Co-Fraternity of Christian Mothers in Yonkers. She enjoyed reading, but more than anything she loved her children and grandchildren.

On March 31, 1951 at St. Francis of Rome Church in the Bronx, Dolores married Pat Albanese who predeceased her on December 8, 1998. She is survived by her children, Patricia Albanese of Pleasantville, Gerald Albanese and his wife Charlene of Hopewell Junction, Thomas Albanese of Poughkeepsie, and Lori Albanese of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Nicholas and Diana; and her grand puppies, Teddi and Scout. Dolores was also predeceased by her son, Eugene Albanese; and her brother, Walter Barrett.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Friday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
