Celebrity Chef Owned Restaurant to Close in Lower Hudson Valley

A restaurant owned by a celebrity chef is the latest business to announce that it is closing down.

Earlier this year, Mario Batali announced that he was getting out of the restaurant business. The long-time chef and TV personality has been battling accusations of sexual harassment which caused him to lose his job as host of The Chew, as well as other television projects.

In March Batali turned over the control of most of his restaurant empire to his partners, including Masterchef judge, Joe Bastianich. The change in ownership led to some changes, including the closure of several of Batali's restaurants in Vegas and the company's Tarry Market in Port Chester. At the time of the closing, it was announced that the market's accompanying restaurant, Tarry Lodge would continue to stay open. Well, now it looks like the popular eatery will also be shutting down.

According to a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the State of New York, Tarry Lodge is scheduled to close down for good on November 22. All 50 employees at the Mill St. restaurant will lose their jobs.

It's unclear if the restaurant has lost customers after Batali's fall from grace, but online reviews of Tarry Lodge continue to be positive. The WARN notice says that the reason for the closure is "economic."

It's unclear if the Tarry Lodge location in New Haven, or Tarry Lodge Pizza in Westport will be affected by the closure.
