Assemblyman Loses His Battle with Cancer
A follow up on a story we shared with you last week about New York State Assemblyman Frank Skartadoes. On Sunday, the assemblyman passed away. A press release from Steve Gold, who was his chief of staff, announced the news. Gold was able to share with us what specifically was wrong with Assemblyman Skartadoes.
He was diagnosed with metastasized stage IV pancreatic cancer in January. Skartados was admitted to St Luke’s Cornwall Hospital on March 24 for respiratory issues and pain. Skartados was 62 years old and held this Assembly seat since 2012. He had held the seat previously from 2008 to 2010, then lost the seat and regained it again when Tom Kirwan, who won the 2010 election, passed away in 2012. Funeral arrangements are being prepped at DiDonato funeral home in Marlboro. No word on dates or time and if it will be open the public. It's unclear what happens to Skartados’ seat.
