Hours for banks, post offices, and more are affected by the first holiday of 2020.

New year, new things to do, like mailing thank you cards and depositing holiday cash. If you're looking to do any of these things on January 1, 2020, you're going to want to check hours first. According to Newsweek, most things are not operating on New Year's Day.

Newsweek reports that all banks are closed on New Year's Day 2020, even the Federal Reserve. However, you will still be able to access online banking services. Some banks also offer drive-thru ATMs that you will be able to access. New Year's Even hours for banks could also vary by location in the Hudson Valley.

According to Newsweek, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will be closed on New Year's Day 2020. In addition, no mail will be collected from the blue collection boxes on January 1, 2020, and no mail will be delivered that day. However, all priority mail express will be delivered. USPS branches in the Hudson Valley will operate as usual on New Year's Eve. FedEx will also not be operating on New Year's Day, expect for its Critical Service.
