Amazon Suspends Many Shipments Until At Least April
Amazon has temporarily suspended shipment of some products due to the coronavirus.
Amazon announced it has suspended shipment from its Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program for a number of items due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We are seeing increased online shopping and as a result some products such as household staples and medical supplies are out of stock. With this in mind, we are temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies and other high-demand products coming into our fulfillment centers so that we can more quickly receive, restock, and ship these products to customers," Amazon wrote on its seller central website. "For products other than these, we have temporarily disabled shipment creation. We are taking a similar approach with retail vendors."
The move impacts Amazon's independent merchants and customers. It went into effect immediately and will last until at least April 5, officials say.
"We are prioritizing household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products coming into our fulfillment centers so that we can more quickly receive, restock, and deliver these products to customers," Amazon said.
Amazon is allowing the following items to be sold.
- Baby Products
- Health & Household
- Beauty & Personal Care (including personal care appliances)
- Industrial & Scientific
- Pet Supplies
