Police in Ulster County arrested 4 people for drug possession. One was found with 25 bags of heroin.

Members of URGENT conducted a traffic stop on Route 32 in the Town of Ulster. A passenger in the vehicle, Angelica M. Schaffer, 27, of Highland was allegedly in possession of 25 bags of heroin, a small amount of marijuana, drug packaging materials, and over $1,400 in cash.

Schaffer was charged with 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana. She was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.

During a traffic stop in the Village of Saugerties, 31-year-old Andrew J. Simmons, of Earlton was allegedly in possession of a quantity of cocaine.

Simmons was charged with 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Village of Saugerties Court at a later time.

Following a traffic stop in the Town of Saugerties, Alejaandro Velez-Malve, 24, and 18-year-old Brandan R. Fellows, both of Saugerties, were allegedly in possession of a six grams of concentrated cannabis.

Both were charged with 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Both were released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Saugerties Justice Court at a later time.
