3 From Hudson Valley Added to NYS Fallen Firefighters Memorial
Three Hudson Valley firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty were honored.
On Tuesday around 11 a.m., The 22nd New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial ceremony was held inside the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. The ceremony honored 23 firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty.
The following Hudson Valley firefighters were honored:
- Richard E. Tomlins, Jr.: Cold Spring Fire Company No. 1
- Felix L. Amoriello: North White Plains Fire Company No. 1
- John P. Kelly: Tarrytown Fire Department
Tomlins was a 25-year member of the Cold Spring Fire Company. He was born in Cold Spring in 1975. He passed away on Feb. 15, 2018, at the age of 43.
The New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial was dedicated in 1998. There are now over 2,500 names on the wall.
