A parolee from Spring Valley was arrested following a violent domestic incident on Friday, according to a press release from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office.
On Friday, November 23 Monticello Police with the assistance of the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office arrested 24 year-old Anthony Joseph Heim. Heim was wanted by the New York State Parole on a parole absconder violent felony warrant.
At approximately 7:50 p.m. Friday, police responded to a 911 report of a violent domestic incident in a residence located at the Fairground Estates on Harmony Lane in the Village of Monticello.
Heim had been involved in a dispute with two female relatives. During the dispute, Heim allegedly pushed and struck one of the females, threw down and nearly choked unconscious another female 15 years of age.
Heim also allegedly kicked down a bedroom door, breaking it, when one of the victims tried to get away from him. One of the victims was able to get away and called 911 from a neighbor's residence.
When officers arrived, Heim had barricaded himself in an attic crawl space. Once officers gained access to the attic, they utilized a telescopic mirror and a thermal image camera to locate Heim, who had intentionally hid himself under insulation in the attic, authorities said.
Officers had to physically crawl into the attic to arrest Heim. Heim allegedly fought with officers and was subdued by a taser.
On top of the NYS Parole charges, Heim was additionally charged with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, and violation of Harassment.
Heim was remanded to Sullivan County Jail on no bail.
