Victor Fanuele of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, surrounded by his family. He was 84.
Son of the late Joseph and Fanny Fanuele, he was born on January 6, 1934 in the Bronx. He married the love of his life, Francine, on July 6, 1963 in the Bronx. Mrs. Fanuele survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Victor proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1954-1956. He attained his AAS in Electric Technology from New York Community College, his BS in Business Administration from SUNY New Paltz and his MS in Computer Science from Marist College. Victor was employed by IBM for 34 years, holding responsible positions in management, administration, strategic planning, programming and engineering in the computer field. He retired from their Poughkeepsie location in 1991.
Victor was proud of his service to the community. Over the years he was Town of Wappinger Councilman, a member and former chairman of the Town of Wappinger Planning Board and Zoning Board, and a member and former chairman of the Dutchess County Planning Board. In his spare time, Victor was very active in St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, where he was head usher, a member of Parish Council, past bingo director and captain for 19 years and a former basketball coach for St. Mary's CYO. He also was a past vice president, manager and coach for Town of Wappinger Little League.
In addition to his wife, Francine, survivors include his children, Maria Colton and her husband, Daniel of Hyde Park, Joseph Fanuele and his wife, Bernadette of Pawling, and Paul Fanuele and his wife, Amanda of Pleasant Valley; and his cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Michael, Olivia, Angeline, James, Brooke and Andrew.
Victor was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Fanuele and his brother, Michael Fanuele.
Family will receive their friends on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
The family would like to thank Dr. Edward K. Schneider and staff, Msgr. Francis P. Bellew, Rev. Daniel D'Alliessi and Rev. Kenneth Riello for their comfort and care during Victor's illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Victor's name to St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
