Ticket Bots to Face Harsher Punishments Thanks to New Legislation

This should make getting tickets to a broadway show, your favorite band and sporting event a lot easier and probably more affordable.

Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation that takes a stand against "ticket bots." Ticket bots are computer systems that manipulates the limit to the ticket purchasing system. The tickets are then sold for much higher price on ticket selling/buying websites. The new legislation passed by Gov. Guomo will penalize known ticket bot sellers.

Using ticket bot software can earn you a class A misdemeanor as well substantial fines and possible imprisonment. Governor Cuomo stated in a press release “These unscrupulous speculators and their underhanded tactics have manipulated the marketplace and often leave New Yorkers and visitors alike with little choice but to buy tickets on the secondary market at an exorbitant mark-up." He also took time out to thank Attorney General Schneiderman and other sponsors for passing the bill quickly.

Personally, I've had several instances where I have missed out on concerts or sporting events because the tickets sold unusually fast and sold on other sites for a price I just can't afford. Hopefully with this bill being passed we have a better chance to see our favorite acts, shows or sporting events and having a less stressful purchasing experience.
