Thomas F. Hoey Sr, a long time Newburgh resident, entered into eternal rest on April 12th, at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. He was 89 years old.

He was retired Senior Chief Machinist's Mate from the Navy and also from his employment as Chief Engineer, at Cornwall Hospital. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Board #229.

He was predeceased by his wife Mae, to whom he was married for 62 years.

He is survived by his children, Thomas F. Hoey, Jr. and wife Sherry of Newburgh, Robert P. Hoey Sr. of Wurstboro, Donna O’Keefe and husband Mike of Hummelstown, and Theresa Beretta and husband Paul of Wappinger Falls; his sister-in-law Shirley Hoey of New Windsor, Joan and husband Mark McCarthy of Wallkill, his brother-in-law Nat Mitchell and wife Theresa of Newburgh and sister-in-law Patricia Mitchell; his grandchildren, Thomas F. Hoey III, Jennifer M. Manley, Robert Paul Hoey Jr., Raphael Beretta, Valentino Beretta, Jonathan Pinkerton, and Amber Moschini; his great-grandchildren, Alijah Gamble, Shianne Manley, Dyimond Manley, Lavinia Manley, Samantha Moschini; and several nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Thomas J. Hoey and Anna Lloyd, his brother Donald Hoey, and sister Catherine Sturman.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A funeral service will be held during visitation. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tom’s name to St. Patrick’s/St. Mary’s Church, 55 Grand St, Newburgh, NY 12550.
