Barn weddings have become one of the most popular places for couples to say "I do", but before you book one, make sure you consider these 6 important factors.

If you've been to a wedding in the last few years, or have seen pictures on social media of a wedding reception you might have noticed that receptions have made a big shift. The days of receptions being held in a traditional venue aren't as popular as they once were.

Many couples are choosing to hold their receptions in rustic, remade barns instead of large ballrooms and that's a good thing for the Hudson Valley! If you haven't noticed we are lucky enough to have a ton of great barn venues. Below we've come up with 12 of the Hudson Valley's best places to hold a fall wedding reception, but before you scroll down to look at the barns, let me share with you the five things you have to consider before you agree to have a barn wedding.

Barn Wedding Checklist

Personally, I have been lucky enough to be a part of numerous weddings at a bunch of Hudson Valley barns and honestly, the barns around the Valley are absolutely gorgeous, but in my travels, I've had a few situations pop up that I never thought of.

For example, "what do you mean there are no outlets to plug into?" or "I can't play amplified music if the barn doors are open?" Both of those things actually happened to me before, so I thought I would share some of my experiences of things to consider with anyone planning a barn wedding so that their special day isn't ruined or not quite what they hoped for.
