Some local schools have already closed their doors on the 21/22 academic year, with the rest wrapping up in the next few days.

While some parents have had their list of summer activities, camps, and events planned out since winter break, while others are scrambling to figure out what to do to avoid those two words that we HATE to hear, especially hours into summer break...

• Remember that list we put together of discounts you can get by using your library card?  Summer is the perfect time to cash in on discounted admission to local attractions and summer fun.
• Don't forget that if your little one participates in any local sports or activities, you can save some cash on ice cream by bringing them in their uniform.
• If you don't have access to a pool, there's always local beaches or the public pool options and splash pads too.
• Did you sign the kids up for free bowling? Participating lanes offer 2 free games per day all summer!

• We're so lucky to have LEGOLAND in our backyard, a perfect day trip or an overnight getaway.
• Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark in Monticello, bonus if you can figure out a way to sneak over to the casino while the kids enjoy the waterpark.
• If you don't mind a short ride out of the Hudson Valley, there's that cool American Dream Mall and waterpark over the border into NJ.

There's also no shortage of local farms to visit that are definitely kid (and sometimes dog) friendly, and I'm sure the kids will get a kick out of the candy cannon at one particular local farm.  Local playgrounds and parks are always a great option for the kids to burn off some energy (and hopefully get them to go to bed early, too).
